Gisborne Earthquake – The Cost

The 6.8 magnitude earthquake that recently rocked Gisborne caused substantial damage, with lingering aftershocks for under insured businesses. The claims have reached $15 million according to the Insurance Council of New Zealand. The Earthquake Commission has received close to 4000 residential claims totalling over $20 million. The majority of domestic claims were for things like chimneys and roofs.
